West Bengal Beekeepers’ Association was founded in the year 1986 by a group of dedicated beekeepers cum social workers to promote village industries with special emphasis on Beekeeping Industry as one of its major objectives. The Association is registered under West Bengal Society Registration Act XXVI of 1961. It is also registered as SSI unit under the DIC, Government of West Bengal. The Association is also subsequently enlisted with the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Government of India. Its aim is to empower the beekeepers both economically and socially by broadening their knowledge and skills and providing the required support services for not only production and marketing of honey but also their social welfare. Over the years, the Association has come out to be the largest honey producer in the state. Its honey products branded as “Bengal Honey” under AGMARK grade processing is widely marketed in and outside of West Bengal state.
